A first cry: supposed to be a boy's,
but landed here a girl instead
(whatever that means, whoever that's for)

She wasn't here that long 
before she became someone 
else's big sister, though

Who shrieked at the other 
if she entered the room, scattering 
perfectly aligned horses and Legos

But then she was dropped off there 
at the painted green table, giving 
snack-sized friendships a try
